KCS-CSDS Experts Workshop "An era of economic security: Common challenges for the EU and Japan"

On 14 November 2023, Keio Center for Strategy (KCS) collaborated with the Institute for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy Studies (CSDS) at the Brussels School of Governance, VUB to hold the KCS-CSDS Experts’ Workshop “An Era of Economic Security: Common Challenges for the EU and Japan.” The event took place in the Conference Room on the 9th floor of the East Annex at Keio University’s Mita Campus.

The event started with remarks by Yuichi Hosoya (Director of KCS/Professor, Faculty of Law, Keio University) and Louis Simon (Director of CSDS). It was then followed by keynote speeches by Takayuki Kobayashi (Member, the House of Representatives/former Minister for Economic  Security) and Jean-Eric Paquet (Ambassador of the European Union to Japan).

In the panel discussion, the three speakers, Daniel Fiotto (Director, Defence and Statecraft Programme, CSDS), Michael Reiterer (Distinguished Professor, CSDS) and Kazuto Suzuki (Director, Institute of Geoeconomics / Professor, School of Public Policy, Tokyo University), along with the moderator Michito Tsuruoka (Deputy Director, KCS/Associate Professor, Faculty of Policy Management, Keio University), engaged with the participants and shared their thoughts on the issues of economic security in Europe and Japan.
