On June 15, 2023, Keio Center for Strategy (KCS), in cooperation with the Embassy of Poland and the Centre for Eastern Studies (OSW), hosted a seminar titled “Second year of Russia’s invasion against Ukraine and its implications for the international security” at the Polish Embassy in Tokyo.
The seminar opened with remarks from Pawec Milewski (Ambassador of Poland to Japan) and Motohiro Tsuchiya (Executive Director, Keio University/ Professor, Faculty of Policy Management). The event was moderated by Yuichi Hosoya (Professor, Faculty of Law/ Director, KCS).
Speakers, including Wojciech Konończuk (President of OSW), Marek Menkiszak (Head of the OSW Russia Department), Jakub Jakubowski (OSW Deputy President, Head of China Department), and Adam Eberhardt (Prime Minister’s Plenipotentiary for Supporting Reforms in the Republic of Moldova) discussed ways to support Ukraine, manage relations with Russia, including sanctions, and address security in Asia and Europe. They also exchanged views on the potential for cooperation between Japan and Poland.
After a Q&A session with the floor, commentators Satoru Mori (Professor, Faculty of Law) and Masatoshi Sato (cyber security expert at LAC. Former self-defense officer) summarized the discussion from their respective perspectives.
The event was organized and prepared by Yoko Hirose (Professor, Faculty of Policy Management, Deputy Director of KGRI) and Tomasz Gwozdowski (Counsellor, Polish Embassy), and further future cooperation between Keio University and the Polish Embassy was discussed.
